Im thinking of using lip stain but i'm abit scared that it might have some sort of ingredient thats gonna ruin my lips real bad. Has anyone used a lip stain for a long period of time and has something good/bad to say about it? I'd also appreciate it if you recommended a good quality, affordable lip stain that i can buy (I was thinking of the Body Shop one cause i can get that easily - is it good?)

Please help me! I have a brown stain on my upper lip... How can I get rid of it?
I shaved the hair off my upper lip with an epilator and now a tan-colored mustache-like stain is left on my upper lip! How can I get rid of it? Please help me! It's been here for three weeks! Lip stains are drying to the skin. It does last a long time, but it isn't moisturizing or healthy for your lips. You could try Mary Kays lip primer. This helps lipstick last longer, and it also adds collegen to your lips to smooth lip lines. It works wonders. Then I use Mary Kays signature lipstick. It is the longest lasting creme lipstick on the market. It also is moisturizing. I also use their lip gloss with 80% moisturizer. See I like my lips to look healthy and so a stain is NOT the way to go. The Mary Kay products are available at www.marykay.com/rebecca
i haven't heard about the laura mercier lip stain but my cousins use the urban decay one and they really like it. supposedly its not drying cuz its gel based. i have not tried that one yet but i think i might. i have the vincent longo one and it's not too great. i have been searching for a good stain also. weird considering i have tons of glosses and stuff but i also want something longer lasting. good luck!

I was thinking about getting a lip stain but I wasn't quite sure how it worked. I want to go for the natural lip (like one you would want to kiss) but I don't want it to feel dry to the touch (kiss) like it feels when you use all day wear lipstick (like cover girls outlast all day lip color)

also able to put a light lip balm over your lips after the application. so your lips arnt dry.

It's quiet messy. I wouldn't recommend it. I used it and placed a lip gloss on top, it looked alright. It didn't fray on the edges like a lip stick which was nice.
If you do get it make sure you apply it evenly or it looks not so great. Wasn't drying because I used a lip gloss on top.
With lip stain the trick is to not over-apply it. Dab just a little in the center of your lips and spread it evenly to the corners of your lips using your finger or lip brush.
When you use too much it becomes gloopy and creates a 'creeping color' effect over the edges of your mouth. Yuk!
Cover Girl outlast makes a lip stain now and I love it! This is the easiest and only lip stain that has worked for me. I got it at Target in Flirty Nude. Just use the ';magic marker'; type stick to line your lips then fill it in. Wait a minute or so then blot excess. I use chapstick over mine.
Benefits has a good one called ';Benetint'; - Kiss-proof and water-proof, this indelibly sheer tint gives you an innocent, yet provocative glow that will keep everyone guessing ';what has she been up to?';.

uhh...it's polyester, throw it away! lol just kidding

I've not used Sonia Kashuk's brand, but most stains/tints will last anywhere from 6 to 8 hrs (depending on what you eat, usually).
To remove it, most makeup removers/cleansers should work fine...if you find they do not, try something oil based, like eye makeup remover.

It is a tint, not balm or gloss, so your lips will feel more dry than if you were to wear gloss. You could always try a sheer gloss over it if your lips feel ';dry';. (This may alter the length of time the tint will stay on, however.)
With a colour like ';Sheer Bliss';, it sounds as though the result would be more natural than dramatic...

Tarte, NARS and Goldie make the best lipstains in the best colors, IMHO. I have tried several others and sometimes they are too strong. It stains your lips, like cherry ices does. Just make sure you use a nice gloss or plumper with it because most of the time, it is very drying.

You'll need to reapply couple of times a day if you want it to look fresh all the time. It's supposedly more natural looking. YOu can apply lip gloss over it. I used the Benefit brand. It also comes with this shimmery stuff you can apply on top. I really like it.
I've never tried it before, but yeah, it's strong. Like, it doesn't come off from food or anything.
Tarte, NARS and Goldie make the best lipstains in the best colors, IMHO. I have tried several others and sometimes they are too strong. It stains your lips, like cherry ices does. It lasts for quite a while, but once you eat it will start to fade. It definitely lasts longer than regular lipstick. Just make sure you use a nice gloss or plumper with it because most of the time, it is very drying.

Its hard to say what THE BEST is cuz everyone is going to have their favorites based on the qualities THEY like. ie: texture, color(on THEIR complexion), price, and so on. Its probably better to ask your girlfriendscuz they know you better and what you like!

I am in love with Bobbi Brown mattestains. They are very pigmented, go on creamy, then dry to a powdery-like finish, but somehow it doesn't make my lips all chapped, like some stains do. The staying power is great!Lip stain??
I like Revlon LipGlide. The color I use is Iced Raisin 165 or Iced Berry. I have a black air so I like darker lipstick better. But what I can also do is, put a little lipstick on you lip and after some lip gloss. So you will have a stain color on the bottom, and the gloss will keep your lip shiny and wet. It's worked for me, you should try it.
First exfoliate your lips, moisturize them (one of the best lip moisturizers is Elizabeth Arden 8 hour Moisturizing Balm), let it soak for some time (5 min). Apply either a lip fixer or a make-up foundation, dust it with powder foundation and then apply your lipstick of choice. Use a lip brush. Apply a glosser or a moisturizer on top (they usually come together with matte stains...). I know its a little high maintenance, but its the only thing that works for me, as I have a ';dry lips syndrome'; (don't even know if such a thing exists, but I know i have 3 lip balms in every purse and jacket pocket...)
I have a suggestion, but don't think I should say it on this forum...guaranteed to make ya' glow, however.
Mark by Avon has this lip stain that's like a marker that stays put and doesn't dry out your lips either. Check it out!

The Body Shop looks very dark in the tube, and it comes out a little bit like that on your lips. It's a very thin formulation though, very watery, so you just have to spread it around on your lips to get the just bitten look.

The Body Shop looks very dark in the tube, and it comes out a little bit like that on your lips. It's a very thin formulation though, very watery, so you just have to spread it around on your lips to get the just bitten look.

A lip and cheek stain is basically a make up that makes your lips and cheek look naturally flushed.
The cheek will look naturally flushed, like you're blushing. The lips are just red (or whatever colour it is) and full. Instead of like a bit pale or 'undone'.

I bought this new stuff on a whim because I loved the color, but now I'm confused on how to use it. It's liquid, and when I apply it and it dries, it just looks like I put on lip liner and forgot lipstick. If I try to reapply and ';fill in the gaps,'; it just makes the problem worse.

NEVER put on lip gloss before the stain, the lip gloss can mess up the applicator (the lip stain brush)
You first swipe the lipstain horizontally on both the upper and bottom lip. If you're going for a natural kinda look, it's better to whipe some of the stain off by dragging the brush along the rim of the bottle. Wait 15 seconds for it to dry.
THEN you apply lip gloss, if you still put too much, pucker your lips and kiss the back of your hand to take a little off ( it dries fast, so make sure you take it off before it has the chance to dry), you shouldn't try to whipe it off with tissue.
I suggest using a sheer lip gloss and not a frosted or tinted one, since the lip stain is already benetint. (I use vaseline instead of lip gloss)
If the color is still too light for you, wait for it to dry and then apply another layer.
There ya go. Hope it helped.

That is why I never used any lip stain cause the color is usually very bright and can be quite troublesome when you have a very dry and chapped lips... So, maybe you can try this... apply a thin layer of lip balm before using the lip stain... Then instead of applying it directly onto your lip, use your fingers... and blend them well, and make sure you stretch your lips so that you fill in all the lines because these things do dry up really fast...! and when you're done, use a tissue to dab away the excess (If there is any..lolz!)
I am sure it will look very pretty and matt... and make sure that your lips is well moisturize or it will look horrible if your lips starts peeling!!

Whenever my Benefit lip stain ran out, i didn't have the cash on me to replace it, because Benefit can be a little bit pricey, so I bought a cheap one in the the pharmacy for 拢1 which worked just as good.
I have used lip stain with a clear lip gloss on top to get a really nice look for during the day.
When I go out at night, I prefer to use a nude or pink colour lip stick with clear lip gloss on top.
So I think it's fair to stay that although I'm a hugeeeeee fan of lip stain, because when the gloss wears off, you still have some colour, that it's really only, in my opinion, suitable for day wear, because you can't get a really nice bold red colour from using it. I think the only way to get this is a coloured lip gloss of lipstick.

Apparently one of my dogs got ahold of a one of my lip glosses and he chewed a hole through it and it leaked all over the brand new suede couch. Any ideas on how to get it out?Lip gloss stain on a suede couch?
Is it microsuede? Thats what I have and I get a lot of stains daily from my dog, husband, and 2 year old. I always keep a box of unscented baby wipes around and whenever I see a stain I gently rub it with the wipe and it dissapears. You could also use hand sanitizer. Make sure you check you couch somewhere for some sort of cleaning code. There should be one somewhere. Here are what the codes mean as to what is appropriate to use for cleaning.
S Clean only with dry cleaning solvent. Do not saturate. Do not use water. Pile fabrics may require brushing to restore appearance. Cushion covers should not be removed and dry cleaned.

lip stain is all around better. i hate makeup , but lip stain is one thing i could deal with. it doesnt make your lips sticky and coated. its like when you drink red koolaid and you get that red stain look on your lips. it CAN dry out the lips though, so its recommended that your lips and well moisturized. lip stick, in my opinion is just NASTY. maybe i feel this way because i work in a restaurant and i see the remnants of lip stick on my glasses everyday, but i just think the stuff is gross. its waxy, sticky, usually looks just GROSS and very unnatural, not to mention its impossible to get off glass and ceramic...i cant imagine where women get the idea that lip stick is necessary or attractive. from what i can see its all about natural makeup these days.What is the difference between lip stain and lip stick? ?

Also be sure to try it out at home to be sure you like it because once the color is on- it's not coming off for awhile.
This is by far one of the better stains. The marker like applicator is very simple. Just lightly color in your lips with it like you would with a marker. If you want to color darker or more intense let it dry and and another layer.
Always carry chapstick or gloss with you because this only alters lip color not condition. So without it your lips will appear dry.
At night before you go to bed, brush your lips a bit as you brush your teeth to remove some of the color + dead skin cells to help to color remain even the next day instead of building up.

I just discovered that bath and bodyworks has lip stains. They are amazing! I bought the pink/berry one and i love it. It just kicks up your lips color without looking like lipstick. Stains are very natural, almost like you have been eating popcicles. Also, the ones at bath and bodyworks are really inexpensive so if you dont like them it isnt that big of a deal. worht checking out! hope i helped!

i use hairspray and hot water to get oil stains out of my light (almost white carpet) and it worked! first put dish washing liquid on it and let it sit for about an hour,then load it (but not to much,i used the brand ';bed head'; hair spray) w/ hairspray, pour a tiny bit of hot water on it and scrub it with a tooth brush and it works!just keep dipping the toothbrush into the hot water then when your done make sure you get all the soap/hairspray out of your carpet w/ a damp cloth.How to remove lip gloss stain from carpet?

The one that i love is Benetint from benefit.... it's water proff and long lasting, looks natural.... Moreover, you can use it for cheek... so its duo functions... It's better then you buy stain that only for lip or cheek... So it's safe money...
You can adjust the colour depth as well... so If you want deeper colour you can apply another coat....
And you can apply it with finger tip or with the lip brush...
for more natural look, you better apply it with you finger.

bit n rub it in straight away it dries pretty quick, also if u wear heavy foundation i wouldnt recommend it,but if u wear a normal base then ur fine.

I use Benefit Dr feelgood, Moonbeam (highligher/Illuminator) %26amp; I use high Beam its a satin pink highlighter 4 cheeks,lips etc...

I don't recommend it .
I've got the BeneFit one and it was a waste of money to be honest, I gave it to my nan in the end as it really wasn't my thing. It feels horrible on your lips too, and really dries them out.

lip stain is all around better. i hate makeup , but lip stain is one thing i could deal with. it doesnt make your lips sticky and coated. its like when you drink red koolaid and you get that red stain look on your lips. it CAN dry out the lips though, so its recommended that your lips and well moisturized. lip stick, in my opinion is just NASTY. maybe i feel this way because i work in a restaurant and i see the remnants of lip stick on my glasses everyday, but i just think the stuff is gross. its waxy, sticky, usually looks just GROSS and very unnatural, not to mention its impossible to get off glass and ceramic...i cant imagine where women get the idea that lip stick is necessary or attractive. from what i can see its all about natural makeup these days.What is the difference between lip stain and lip stick? ?

Also be sure to try it out at home to be sure you like it because once the color is on- it's not coming off for awhile.
This is by far one of the better stains. The marker like applicator is very simple. Just lightly color in your lips with it like you would with a marker. If you want to color darker or more intense let it dry and and another layer.
Always carry chapstick or gloss with you because this only alters lip color not condition. So without it your lips will appear dry.
At night before you go to bed, brush your lips a bit as you brush your teeth to remove some of the color + dead skin cells to help to color remain even the next day instead of building up.

The one that i love is Benetint from benefit.... it's water proff and long lasting, looks natural.... Moreover, you can use it for cheek... so its duo functions... It's better then you buy stain that only for lip or cheek... So it's safe money...
You can adjust the colour depth as well... so If you want deeper colour you can apply another coat....
And you can apply it with finger tip or with the lip brush...
for more natural look, you better apply it with you finger.

Laura Mercier has new lip stains that are creamy and they come in great colors. One of my favorite lines. Tarte also has a great lip stain and it's a lip plumper as well. My first choice is definitely Laura Mercier, though.

You can adjust the colour depth as well... so If you want deeper colour you can apply another coat....
And you can apply it with finger tip or with the lip brush...
for more natural look, you better apply it with you finger.

Laura Mercier has new lip stains that are creamy and they come in great colors. One of my favorite lines. Tarte also has a great lip stain and it's a lip plumper as well. My first choice is definitely Laura Mercier, though.

It's in like a nail polish kinda bottle with the same style brush but when i apply it, it literally stains the area i apply it to, so i find it impossible to blend.

How to apply lip stain?
I bought this new stuff on a whim because I loved the color, but now I'm confused on how to use it. It's liquid, and when I apply it and it dries, it just looks like I put on lip liner and forgot lipstick. If I try to reapply and ';fill in the gaps,'; it just makes the problem worse.
What am I doing wrong? Is there a different way to apply it?

You first swipe the lipstain horizontally on both the upper and bottom lip. If you're going for a natural kinda look, it's better to whipe some of the stain off by dragging the brush along the rim of the bottle. Wait 15 seconds for it to dry.
THEN you apply lip gloss, if you still put too much, pucker your lips and kiss the back of your hand to take a little off ( it dries fast, so make sure you take it off before it has the chance to dry), you shouldn't try to whipe it off with tissue.
I suggest using a sheer lip gloss and not a frosted or tinted one, since the lip stain is already benetint. (I use vaseline instead of lip gloss)
If the color is still too light for you, wait for it to dry and then apply another layer.
There ya go. Hope it helped.

So, maybe you can try this... apply a thin layer of lip balm before using the lip stain... Then instead of applying it directly onto your lip, use your fingers... and blend them well, and make sure you stretch your lips so that you fill in all the lines because these things do dry up really fast...! and when you're done, use a tissue to dab away the excess (If there is any..lolz!)
I am sure it will look very pretty and matt... and make sure that your lips is well moisturize or it will look horrible if your lips starts peeling!!

I've used lip stain, first off i tried the Benefit one, its great, you can even get it in a compact type thing with lip stain on one end, and clear lip gloss on the other. Whenever my Benefit lip stain ran out, i didn't have the cash on me to replace it, because Benefit can be a little bit pricey, so I bought a cheap one in the the pharmacy for 拢1 which worked just as good.
I have used lip stain with a clear lip gloss on top to get a really nice look for during the day.
When I go out at night, I prefer to use a nude or pink colour lip stick with clear lip gloss on top.
So I think it's fair to stay that although I'm a hugeeeeee fan of lip stain, because when the gloss wears off, you still have some colour, that it's really only, in my opinion, suitable for day wear, because you can't get a really nice bold red colour from using it. I think the only way to get this is a coloured lip gloss of lipstick.
When I've tried lip stains a lot of the time they've been really drying, but when I do is apply the lip stain, then a lip gloss on top of that or a chapstick to help rehydrate my lips (and if you want to keep the matte look of a lip stain, I think there's a chapstick out there for men that has no shine to it) Good luck!skin lightening

When I go out at night, I prefer to use a nude or pink colour lip stick with clear lip gloss on top.
So I think it's fair to stay that although I'm a hugeeeeee fan of lip stain, because when the gloss wears off, you still have some colour, that it's really only, in my opinion, suitable for day wear, because you can't get a really nice bold red colour from using it. I think the only way to get this is a coloured lip gloss of lipstick.
When I've tried lip stains a lot of the time they've been really drying, but when I do is apply the lip stain, then a lip gloss on top of that or a chapstick to help rehydrate my lips (and if you want to keep the matte look of a lip stain, I think there's a chapstick out there for men that has no shine to it) Good luck!
